How to Use SUMIF Formula

SUMIF function

 

SUMIF function is an excel functions that look at the criteria and then add corresponding numbers based on that criteria. It is an important function to have it at your disposal for report preparation and pulling numbers. Formula for SUMIF function is “SUMIF(range, criteria,sum_range)”. With an example, you will be able to learn it and then you can apply it to your own working/calculations.

In our example below (image), our final aim is to have total sales for each product and sales team.

Step 1 Enter the following formula in cell (G5) = SUMIF($B$4:$B$13,F5,$D$4:$D$13).

Step 2 Copy the above formula to cells (G6:G8). The dollar sign in the formula is to fix the Ranges.

Result at the execution of Step 2 is provided in the below image.

Step 3 In cell (J5) Enter the following formula = SUMIF($C$4:$C$13,I5,$D$4:$D$13)

Step 4 Copy the above formula to cells (J6:J8)
